People nowadays are attracted to the sophisticated and luxurious style of living. Advertising platforms try to inculcate ideas to spend on objects which are not money worthy.
Several factors can be attributed to the psychological development of the common man’s attitude towards utilizing his funds. One of the factors is peer pressure, where a person is attracted to his friends’ articles, cars. The second one is the age of the person, where a younger person tries to satisfy his own needs without any inhibitions and with independence.
These psychological attitudes towards improper usage of personal funds have been surfacing in the younger generation rather than the earlier decade people. The people of yesteryears, try to be calculative and were future prepared persons, who tried to save their funds for the well-being of their family. The concept of the joint family played a significant role in the older generation.
Whereas, youths of this age try to utilize most of the present without concern towards the future. With the advent of credit schemes, most of them spend beyond their capabilities and end up mortgaged.
The attitude of the present generation will have a significant impact on their future. This can be changed by introducing certain innovative ideas of saving with incentives. One such idea is an investment in mutual funds. Mutual funds investment motivates the person to be committed for a certain period of time to reach their goals. Another example, which can be tried is investing in personal requirements like building a house, buying cars.
To conclude, the idea of saving should be taught to the present age people at an earlier level at the school by highlighting the new ideas and positive impacts, which will prevent them being bankrupt in the future and become a responsible person for the family and to the country.
