The bar graph reveals the percentage of the UK population of age 65 and over in 1985 and it illustrates forecast for 2035.

Overall, while the population of age 65 and over was least in the past, the figure of the population is predicted to increase in the future in England,Wales , Scotland,Northen Ireland and UK.

According to the graph,in 1985,the population of England was 15% point and it slightly increased to nearly 16% in Wales.Furthermore,in Scotland,it experienced a decrease of almost 3% points in 1985.In Northern Ireland, the percentage of the population of age 65 and over was approximately 12% point, and it rose gradually by 3% in the UK,in 1985.

As per the graph, the prediction of 2035 says that, the figure of the England population is anticipated to about 24% in 2035 and the population of Wales is expected to reach its zenith roughly to 26% before declining the population of Scotland to 25%. Moreover, the population of Northern Ireland is predicted to decrease by around 3% and the forecast of the UK says it is anticipated similar to Northern Ireland.

’65 and over was least’ you cannot use least here because least is used when comparing many things or factors together. ‘the population of England was 15% point’ which population, you have to mention and 15% point is wrong it is used when talking about increase or decrease in percentage. ‘anticipated to about 24%’ to be about and again you did not mention which population, how would the examiner know if this is below 65 or above 65. ‘decrease by around 3%’ decrease by around 3 percentage point. ‘the forecast of the UK says it is anticipated similar to Northern Ireland’ forecast is similar to Norther Ireland, no need to write says it.

It is a fact that parents play vital role in children’s life.Since now a days, people do not get married at early age,the age difference is more between parents and offspring. However some people believe that age difference is gainful, i advocate that cons outweigh pros and in the following section this argument will be discussed.

To commence with, parents are a boon for offspring and they are responsible to bringing their children into the world. But,due to the age difference, they die when children are still not settled as well as they miss happiest moments (here can I write plural with happiest? Moment or moments?)of children’s life.Secondly, parents get stuck with their own culture, customs, tradition and unable to embrace multiculture. As a result there are more conflicts between parents and children. Thus, offspring do not share their feelings and personal secrets with parents. To illustrates,in the advertisement of Apple iPhone, it can be seen that, children who live in another country, their parents learn to use cellphone from others to communicate with their offspring.

On the other hand, elder people are rich in experience therefore, they always motivatie their children to cope with difficult situations in life. Moreover, children learn etiquettes, social and moral values from parents. Also, children can spend quality time with parents because parents get retired when children are growing up.

To recapitulate, although elderly people teach everything to children according to their own experience, parents are unable to accept new culture ,life style and teach some new skills to offspring which are require for the holistic development of children.

moments is fine. To illustrate not illustrates. Need to give a better example of generation gap. Avoid using offspring too much, you have repeated this word too many times in this essay, otherwise it is a very good attempt.

Sir u told me to write population is anticipated to be about 24% in 2035.but in the last line i wrote that it is predicted to decrease by around 3%.and is it correct?for this sentence u have not told anything about .or u r telling me to write” to be ” in all sentences?let me know.i get confused sir.when i can use “to” and “to be”.

    • IELTS MASTER says:

No you cannot write be with to in all sentences. Generally when to is followed by a verb then be is not written. Only case when be is written between a vert and to is when an action is performed for example fuel prices to be decreased by 5% but when you use to + verb to depict a trend then generally be is not written between to and verb.

  4. Rinal Kansara says:

U mean to say when verb is not given write “to be” and with verb only “to”. It is predicted to decrease by 5 percentage points and it is predicted to be about 5 % in 2035…..like this…is it correct?what I understood?

  5. Rinal Kansara says:

I think it is anticipate to be about 5% not anticipated.?
