Describe a person who helps others in his or her spare time

1. Every person should have a role model in his life to look up to.
2. For me that person is my paternal uncle.
3. He has always loved me like his own son and I cannot even count the number of gifts he has bought me since my childhood.
4. I too treat him like my father and have always looked for opportunities to show my appreciation for whatever he has done for me.
5. He is highly respected in our family because of many traits that he possesses but the one quality of his which I admire the most is his magnanimity.
6. He is always ready to help anyone in need and he would even go out of his way to ensure that the person in distress is relieved from his misery.

7. I have seen him so many times helping our family members in whatever way possible either financially or emotionally.
8. He is an active member of many social groups which work towards the betterment of the society.
9. One such group is an NGO which conducts weekend classes for the children belonging to underprivileged section of society.
10. He has been part of this NGO for a decade now and when I was a child he sometimes took me to the camps conducted by this NGO.
11. He told me that this NGO is very close to his heart because he firmly believes that children are the future of a nation and without proper education we cannot ensure a bright future for these children as well as the nation.
12. So by organizing these classes for the poor children he is contributing to a much larger cause.
13. That is why I simply admire my uncle.
14. He not only believes in doing such good deeds himself, he also believes in inculcating such great moral values in the younger generation and I am glad that true to his belief he once gave me an opportunity to make a small contribution in the larger scheme of things.
15. Every second Sunday of the month, science classes are conducted for these students.
16. But last month the regular science faculty fell ill and he called in sick at the eleventh hour.
17. So my uncle asked me if I would be willing to take those science sessions for one day, an invite which I gladly accepted.
18. I went to the camp with my uncle and began my session with a small round of introduction in which I learnt about those kids.

19. They told me about their family background and all the hardships their parents have to go through just to put food on the table.
20. I was really taken aback by the plight of their families and realized how good a work this NGO is doing by imparting education to these kids which would give them a platform to do something better with their lives.
21. In this emotional exchange of experiences I nearly forgot that I was there to teach science, which I was reminded by one of the students only.
22. I went with a preconceived notion that those students would not be serious about their studies but to my surprise they not only showed utmost sincerity in the class, they also gave me a reality check with their deep understanding of basic concepts of physics and chemistry.
23. I was really impressed with their hunger to learn and ability to grasp concepts quickly.
24. Time just flew by and before I realized it was time to end the session.
25. I went in as a teacher but came out as a student, those interactions taught me something about our society which I was completely oblivious of.
26. It was one of the most memorable days of my life and I wanted to experience it again so I asked my uncle if he would allow me to do more such sessions.
27. He promised me that he would arrange something for me in the near future.
